The state
education department has decided to introduce Goods and Services Tax in the
syllabus in class IX and XI in the Gujarat school board text books.
The changes
in the syllabus will be introduced from the academic year beginning in June
2018.
The education
department has also instructed the Gujarat state textbook board to prepare a
syllabus and accordingly prepare the books for class IX and XI.
The officials
said that the decision to introduce GST was taken as the government wanted to
inform students about the recent tax slab in comparison with the that of the
old system.
For this
purpose, the government has also decided to seek help of the education
committee of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Education Board (GHSEB).
The
government has also decided that with this change they will incorporate details
about right to information and RTI Act in school texts.
