Region organised an awareness programme on Right to Information Act at
Industrial Training Institute Rajouri on Friday

Mahajan Principal ITI Rajouri was the Chief Guest, while Prof. Iqbal Raina from
Govt PG Collage Rajouri, Abdul Raoof Dar Principal Boys Hr. Sec. School Rajouri
were Guests of Honour and Manzoor Hussain Faculty Member ITI Rajouri and Ayaz
Ahmed Mughal RTI activist poonch were also present on the occasion .

Mahajan in his address said that effectively implemented RTI can bring in
openness and transparency between public authorities and common people and
ensure better implementation of the programmes and schemes.
During the
programme ITI activist stated that the basic objective of RTI is to strengthen
our democracy in a real sense he further stated that a citizen has the right to
seek information from public authority and obtain information in any form he
also highlighted other provisions of the act.
In this
programme various aspects and provision along with the procedure for seeking
information under RTI Act were discussed by the officials of Directorate of
Field Publicity .During the workshop practical knowledge on filing RTI and its
procedure was also imparted to the students . Vikram Uppal in his welcome
address enlightened the audience about the working and mandate of Directorate
of Field Publicity & said that the motive behind organising this programme
was to create awareness among the general masses about the importance of right
to information act. The registered troupes of Song & Drama Division mesmerised
the audience with their theme based Songs, Dramas and Dances .Later students of
ITI participated in a rally which Passed Through main bazaar of Rajouri and
disseminated awareness about importance of RTI among people.
