The Arunachal
Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 25, 000 each
under section 20 (1) RTI Cat, 2005 on three public information officers (PIO).
The
PIO-cum-superintending engineer (CSQ) PWD, Itanagar, was penalised for
‘deliberately defying the order of the Commission’ in connection with the
appeal made by appellants Shoney Pertin and Omuk Aje.
A similar
penalty has also been imposed on PIO-cum-ADC of the Capital Complex deputy
commissioner’s office for ‘deliberately defying the order of the Commission on
connection with the appeal made by appellant Rani Jomoh Tawe.
Both officers
have been directed to deposit the penalty amount on or before 17 January, 2018,
and asked to appear before the Commission on the same date along with the
treasury challan and information sought for by the appellants.
A penalty has
also been imposed on PIO-cum-Executive Engineer Taluk Rai, of the Rural Works
Division of Seppa in East Kameng district for ‘furnishing incomplete
information on the PMGSY road from Khenewa to Nampe’ to appellant Kullu Bagang.
The executive
engineer has been directed to pay the penalty and furnish all information and
documents to the appellant before 31 December, as the next hearing has been
fixed for 11 January, 2018 at 10.30 am in the APIC office.
Meanwhile, a
complaint has been lodged with the Namsai Deputy Commissioner against the
Namsai divisional forest officer (DFO) for not providing information sought by
an applicant under the RTI Act.
The
information seeker, one Chow Tasina Namchoom, in his complaint letter stated
that he had submitted an application on 21 June, seeking information from the
DFO regarding allocation of fund and execution of work under the 13th Finance
Commission grant during 2016-’17.
‘But no
information has been provided till date,’ Namchoom said.
