In connection with the ongoing intensive publicity awareness campaign on Right to Information Act which was launched by the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, J & K Region, Jammu in four identified districts of Jammu Division during the month of December. Field Publicity Unit Kathua in close coordination and cooperation with State Information Commission, Jammu and Kashmir, District Administration Samba, and other sister media organisations of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting viz: Doordarshan News, All India Radio and Song and Drama Division, organised an awareness camp cum workshop on RTI Act at Government Higher Secondary School, Rajpura, Ghagwal, Samba on Friday.
The programme was presided over by Sheetal Nanda DDC/DM Samba whereas Narayan Dutt, KAS SDM Gaghwal was Guest of Honour. The programme was attended by a large number of gathering that includes; teachers, Anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors, ASHA workers, Ex PRI members, local people of the area besides students of the host institution and RTI activists of Samba and Kathua districts.
All the Public information Officers and Assistant Public Information Officers of Samba District belonging to various departments were also present in the programme as the programme was awareness cum workshop on RTI Act. Experts from State Information Commission J&K were made available by the organisers for making the audience aware about various clauses and provisions of RTI Act. The resource persons delivered keynote addresses on the theme and provided detailed and threadbare information about various benefits and provisions of RTI Act to the audience.
Theme based and colorful cultural programme was also presented by the registered artists of Song and Drama Division of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on the occasion in order to make audience more empowered and aware about the theme through folk songs and skits.
The winners of the quiz contest and resource persons were honoured with utility gifts and mementoes by the organizers through the hands of Chief Guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Special Guest were also facilitated by mementoes by N. Gulshan Raina, Publicity Officer, Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Jammu and Kashmir Region.
