Alarmed over
reports of non-completion of projects sanctioned under the Rs 100.71 crore
Central funds received by Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) under
Special Plan Assistance, United Democratic Party (UDP), Garo Hills unit has
sought information under RTI where the money was utilised.The sanction was made
to GHADC which was then ruled by NPP-led Garo Hills Progressive Alliance
(GHPA).
“We have
received reports of misutilisation of funds under SPA. If it is true then we
are going to demand very strict action against those responsible for the
misutilisation as the funds were for development of Garo Hills,” UDP West Garo
Hills youth wing president said.
Non-completion
of various projects was detected by the current Congress-led coalition. A
number of FIRs have been filed against contractors. The RTI was filed on Monday
in the GHADC office in Tura.
