RTI activist,
K R Raveendra, has written to Karnataka Governor, Vajubhai Vala, seeking his
permission to register case against chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah for
extending support to illegal mining.
Raveendra has
said that the CM has been supporting some persons who have annexed private land
owned by the lineage of Mysuru rulers at Baby Betta in Pandavapura taluk in the
district and conducting illegal mining activity there. Raveendra had complained
to the governor and attached copies of several documents in suspport of his
allegations. A copy of the complaint was also endorsed to director general of
police, Anti Corruption Bureau. Now he has sought governor's permission to file
case against the CM under Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code.
As per the
landed property details of the Maharaja of Mysore, which has been signed by the
secretary of union government, V P Menon and chief secretary of Mysore
government,K Sinivasan, in which list of properties owned by Mysore kings has
been given, 1,623 acres of land belongs to the erstwhile rulers of Mysuru
state, he has claimed. He has pointed out that after donating land to the poor
by the then king, in the same survey number, 601.02 hectares (1,502/5 acres) of
land is mentioned as per records as owned by the Mysore kings. The RTC prepared
in hand writing has been changed by crossing the word, 'Patta' and replacing it
with 'government'. Patta means private property, he explained.
