Indian Express: Bhopal: Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
Mukesh Dube,
an RTI activist and who is also accused in at least nine criminal cases, was
found murdered in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday morning.
Dube (32)
originally hails from Mainpuri district of West UP and was found dead in the
jungles of Matkora area by the residents of Ghuraiya Basial village.
Following
which the matter was notified to cops at Sumawali police station, 500 km from
Bhopal.
Police said
that Dube, a resident of Morena town, was brought to the jungles by the
perpetrators and was allegedly murdered after being hit with heavy objects,
including a baseball bat.
Morena
district police superintendent Aditya Pratap Singh told the New Indian Express,
"It's a clear-cut case of murder and a case under Section 302 of IPC has
been lodged against unidentified accused."
Primary
investigations also revealed that Dube, whose name figured in the Goonda list
of Sumawali police station, was accused in nine cases of physical assault,
cheating and fraud, causing mischief by fire, besides Arms Act cases, said
Singh.
Further probe
revealed that Dube was often filing RTI applications particularly to figure out
irregularities in village panchayats of Morena district, owing to which he had
made several enemies.
Sources in
Morena district police, meanwhile, confided that there was a possibility that
Dube was filing RTI applications to blackmail people and extort money and that
the murder was perpetrated by people who were allegedly being blackmailed by
Dube, sources added.
The Sumawali
police station staff probing the matter said they had managed to get vital
clues about the killing, which would be worked out within a few days.
