35 officials attend RTI training programme

The Tribune: Ludhiana: Thursday, September 14, 2017.
The Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration Punjab (MGSIPA), Regional Centre, Patiala, started a two-day RTI training programme for the Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Assistant Public Information Officers (APIOs) under the RTI Act, 2005 here today.
Around 35 officials from various departments of the district are taking part in it.
The programme, which has been sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training, aims at sensitising the officers about the Act and also to make them aware about the latest developments based on the judgments of the Central / State Information Commission and courts. Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Additional DC (General), Ludhiana, said the RTI Act was an important tool to empower the people in a democracy, besides bringing about transparency and accountability in administration at all levels.
