PASIGHAT, Aug
13: The Water Resource Department, Pasighat division has been alleged of misuse
of fund in the name of construction of security fencing of the Mebo WRD office
during 2015-16.
Armed with
RTI documents, RTI activists Shoney Pertin and Omuk Aje of Pasighat alleged
that the WRD fraudulently drew an amount of Rs 19.29 lakh showing
fencing/security wall construction at Mebo WRD office.
Claiming that
boundary wall/fencing of the said office has already been done and payment
against the work was also paid to the contractor earlier, the RTI activist duo
also questioned the concerned WRD engineers on overlapping of scheme in the
name of boundary wall construction and drawing of Rs 19.29 lakh MLA LAD fund
without any renovation or extension work.
Alleging that
the executive engineer of WRD, Pasighat and AE of Mebo WRD have unholy nexus
with the firm house in this regard, the RTI activists have lodged an FIR in
Pasighat Police Station demanding high level inquiry into the alleged financial
irregularities.
When
contacted, Mebo Assistant Engineer of WRD, Alat Megu admitted that the wall
(fencing) was constructed at Mebo office during 2011-12 without sanction. The
payment of bill to the contractor concerned was made by diverting funds from
some Minor Irrigation Project (MIP) and MIC (Channel) schemes from different
subdivisions under Pasighat division.
AE Megu also
informed that he approached the local MLA for sanctioning Rs 20 lakh in order
to meet the shortfall of fund in the MIP and MIC projects (after fund
diversion) and it was released in the year 2015-16.
Former Mebo
AE (WRD), Bising Daring also said the security fencing (boulder wall) of Mebo
WRD office was made during his tenure in 2011-12 and all dues were paid to the
contractors concerned.
