The Sate
Chief Information Commissioner, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai took a review meeting with
the officers of the State Information Commission (SIC) today.
The CIC was
informed about the working of the Commission and about the pending appeals and
complaints. The CIC directed for quick disposal for which a system must be
devised to reduce the pendency.
The CIC also
underlined the importance of the implementation of the provisions of the RTI
Act and the Rules by the various Government Departments and other public
authorities to ensure faster disposal of the complaints and redress of the
grievances of the RTI applicants at the level of the PIOs and the First
Appellate Authority.
He stated
that if all the government departments and public authorities implement the
provisions of the State RTI Act pertaining to display/disclosure of suo-motto
information under Section-4 and appointment of PIOs under Section-5 of the Act,
most of the applications will get disposed at the level of the public
authorities themselves.
In this
regard, he desired that instructions about the same need to be reiterated by
the commission to all the public authorities in the state.
