Highlighting
instances when the government has failed to provide the information sought
through Right to Information, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee urged the
authorities to instil the spirit of RTI in public information officers.
"The
defence minister used the RTI Act maximum as the opposition leader to expose
the government and now when the BJP is in power, they are trying to kill the
Act by suppressing information," GPCC spokesperson Trajano D'Mello
alleged.
D'Mello
quoted from a Supreme Court order stressing on the need for the state
government to provide information. "I appeal to the Mahiti Adhikar Gujarat
Pahel (MAGP), the Goa State Information Commission and the Goa RTI Forum to
have a meeting with PIOs."
