Right to
Information week was observed across the state under the theme, “RTI and role
of NGOs and CSOs”.
ZUNHEBOTO: In
Zunheboto the occasion was held on October 15 at DC’s conference hall, with
APO, DRDA, RTI-TOT Zunheboto, Obed Achumi as resource person.
According to
DIPR report, Achumi said that with the enforcement of RTI information and
documents pertaining to various departments has improved. Obed also spoke on
the role of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) where it could take up education
and awareness programs through RTI. CSO
could also promote good governance and social equity by accessing information.
EAC, HQ,
Kemciyile who chaired the program asked the gathering to make use of RTI but
cautioned it should not be misused for selfish motives. The program was
attended by GBs, village council
chairmen, VDB Secretaries and public leaders. EAC probationer
Sakuchingmak and Wiridin Zeliang also attended the function.
MOKOKCHUNG:
In Mokokchung, chairmen from the 18 wards and representatives from Ao Senden,
Watsu and AKM attended the programme on October 15 held at the conference hall
of ADC (Planning) Mokokchung.

Mokokchung HQ, Sachin Jaiswal IAS, delivering the keynote address said that RTI
was a strong weapon for all the people of the nation to question so that the
answer could throw light into the matter. He also said to the participants that
as torch bearers of the town and the community, they must update themselves and
disseminate the knowledge on RTI to the lower section of the people, specially
to those in the villages so that their rights are protected. The programme was
chaired by assistant commissioner, Mekola Chaitanya Prasad IAS (P), while power
point presentation was given by EAC Mkg HQ, R. Daniel Angami and EAC
Chuchuyimlang, Meyazungba Jamir.
MON: RTI week
was held on October 14 at DC’s conference hall Mon town with Relise Sangtam,
EAC Mon as the chairperson and Rohbi Sangtam EAC(probationer) and Tumben P.
Tsanglao EAC (probationer) as the pesource persons under National Information
Commission.
EAC
(probationer) Rohbi Sangtam gave a powerpoint presentation and spoke on Right
to Information and also gave an overview of the act passed by Indian Parliament
on June 5, 2005. EAC (probationer) Tumben P. Tsanglao also presented a
powerpoint.
There was an
interaction hour among the NGO & CSO leaders and resource persons. The
program was attended by NGO leaders of KU, KNSK, KSU and CSO leaders of all the
ward presidents and GBs.
