Sept 10: The
Meghalaya Information Commission (MIC) has received 53 complaints last year
under RTI Act, 2005.
According to
the 10th annual report of the MIC, out of 53 complaints received, 50 cases were
disposed off during the year and three cases were carried over to the next
year.
As per the
report, during the year penalties and compensations were given in 12 cases.
The annual
report states that most of the complaints lodged with the Commission were due
to violation of Sec 18 (1) (b) and Sec 18 (1) (c) of the RTI, Act 2005. These
relates to refusal to give access to any information within the time limit
specified under the Act.
There were
few cases which were filed under sub section – (1) Clause (e) of section – 18
that is for giving incomplete and misleading information.
Meanwhile,
during the same year (2015) a total number of 15 appeals were received by the
State Information Commission.
The 10th
Annual Report of the Meghalaya State Information Commission for the year 2015
was laid by Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma was laid on Friday, the opening day
of the autumn session of the Meghalaya assembly.
