Chief
Information Commissioner Vinson M. Paul on Thursday came down heavily on the
State government’s alleged reluctance to reveal Government Orders and Cabinet
decisions under the Right to Information Act.
He was
speaking at a function organised in the city to mark a decade of the advent of
the RTI Act.
Mr. Paul said
some people in power were intent on revealing only matters that suited their
interests. The event was organised by Chavara Cultural Foundation.
Officials
blamed
He added that
officials responsible for providing information acted on their whims and
fancies.

courts.
Criticising
RTI activists, Mr. Sebastian Paul lamented that society did not come out
against the ban on media in courts.
