RTI chief comes down on govt.

The Hindu: Kochi: Friday, August 19, 2016.
Chief Information Commissioner Vinson M. Paul on Thursday came down heavily on the State government’s alleged reluctance to reveal Government Orders and Cabinet decisions under the Right to Information Act.
He was speaking at a function organised in the city to mark a decade of the advent of the RTI Act.
Mr. Paul said some people in power were intent on revealing only matters that suited their interests. The event was organised by Chavara Cultural Foundation.
Officials blamed
He added that officials responsible for providing information acted on their whims and fancies.
V.D. Satheesan, MLA, and media critic Sebastian Paul spoke about the functioning of courts.
Criticising RTI activists, Mr. Sebastian Paul lamented that society did not come out against the ban on media in courts.
