Times of India: Gurgaon: Friday,

Most people
avoid visiting a police station, irrespective of how innocuous the reason may
be. However, there are several legal formalities that every citizen is
duty-bound to complete, for example registration of a tenant or a domestic
help. To help the resident save time on repeat visits and avoid hassles, the
police have now revamped their website and made available online at least eight
new services, including tenant verification, domestic help verification and
character certificate.
The residents
will have to log on to the website http://haryanapoliceonline.gov.in/login.aspx
and go to the citizen login. A registered mobile number is mandatory to create
a citizen login. Following that, the user can put in a request for any on the
over a dozen services after which user will get a receipt and that will be used
in future to track the status.
The updated
website offers, apart from putting in a request for tenant or domestic help
verification, request for issuance of character certificate, permission to
organize an event, verification of an employee, permission to take out a
procession or organize a protest demonstration, verification of a private
security agency and requests to take out a procession and organize a protest or
strike. It was already possible to file an application seeking information
under the RTI Act, or register your hotel or cyber cafe with police, report
lost property etc, the new set of feature are far more people centric.
The HarSamay
portal is interlinked with the crime and criminal tracking network system,
which is a police software, to run an online background check on any version
whose verification has been sought. This one of the most important and primary
step in the process.
The portal
will not only serve residents of Gurgaon but work across Haryana giving same
facilities through a nodal officer in every district or commissionerate.
"The
website saves time and efforts for citizens. You can apply seeking information
about some lost property sitting at your home. Once you have put in all the
information, you will get a receipt. You can use the receipt number for online
follow up of the matter," said ACP Anil Yadav.
"We
request that maximum people to use it," the ACP said.
