The Haryana
police has registered an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party MLA Commando Surender
Singh for alleged forgery and cheating. This follows a complaint by BJP's Karan
Singh Tanwar at Jhajjar police station. Tanwar told TOI that he had filed the
FIR on July 29 and would soon be exposing the AAP MLA. According to the FIR,
Tanwar claimed he had been informed that Surender Singh had forged his BA
degree and obtained employment in a government senior secondary school at
Jhajjar on the basis of fake degrees and marksheets.
"That
upon receiving information under the RTI Act from the director, secondary
education, Panchkula, it came to the notice of the undersigned that Singh had
forged marksheets of BA from the period of January 1, 2009 to March 31, 2011 of
three years. It is worthwhile to mention here that Surender Singh was in
regular service in the Army from July 5, 1997 till August 15, 2011 as a nayak.
The Haryana government would not have appointed him as a teacher if he had
submitted the truth," the FIR reads.
Reacting to
the FIR, Surinder Singh told TOI: "Tanwar has already filed two-three
complaints on this issue at the same police station in Jhajjar and another one
with Delhi Police. After investigation, it was found that the FIR had no merit.
Now, when
there is a conspi racy to arrest AAP MLAs, Tanwar must have tho Tanwar must
have thought he will push this issue once again. I have done my Class 12 and
graduation through correspondence. There was a mistake in my election affidavit
where instead of EIILM Sik kim University, I had mentioned only Sikkim
University. I have accepted this mistake. This does not mean that I do not have
a degree."
Singh had
been arrested by Delhi Police in August last year after he was accused of
assaulting a New Delhi Municipal Council worker. He had been charged with
assaulting a public servant and stopping him from discharging his duty with
sections of SCST Act invoked. His driver, Pankaj, and assistant Praveen too
were held.
