Times of India: Varanasi: Tuesday,
June 14, 2016.
UP chief
information commissioner Jawed Usmani said that all government departments
would be encouraged to make maximum information on-line to maintain
transparency and bring down number of applications under RTI Act in the state.
He said UP
State Information Commission has targeted to train 10,000 out of 18,000 public
information officers (PIOs) in state by the end of this year. He was in the
city on Monday to inaugurate a four-day training session for PIOs of Varanasi
division.
Usmani said
the RI Act came to existence in 2005 but UP became first state to formulate UP
RTI Rules in 2015 to ensure its effective implementation. Lack of training
proved to be a hurdle in implementation of RTI Act.
