Haryana
government today said the decision not to provide property details of the Chief
Minister and his cabinet colleagues under the RTI Act was of State Public
Information Officer, not of the state government.
"The
decision to refuse to provide property details of Chief Minister and his
colleagues under the RTI Act was not by the Government but of State Public
Information Officer (SPIO) designated under the RTI Act," Haryana Chief
Secretary D S Dhesi said, adding the SPIO had exercised his "quasi
judicial powers with his wisdom."
"If one
is not satisfied with the decision of the SPIO, an appeal can be made to the
higher authority as specified under the Act," Dhesi, while reacting to
news reports that appeared in a section of the press today that Haryana
government has refused to disclose the property details of Chief Minister
Manohar Lal Khattar and his ministers under the RTI Act, said.
A
Panipat-based RTI activist had filed an application seeking the list of all
cabinet ministers, their property details and information about those who had
not submitted the details to the state government.
The
authorities reportedly refused to provide any information on the pretext that
"it was of personal nature.
