For the
convenience of information seekers and public authorities of Jammu division,
the State Information Commission (SIC) has made arrangements for hearing of appeals/complaints
through video-conferencing, both at Jammu and at district headquarters where
cases are being heard through video conferencing.
Engineer
Nazir Ahmad, Information Commissioner, reviewed the functioning of the
commission after it resumed work at its Srinagar office following the annual
Darbar move. The Commissioner asked the officers and staff to work with
dedication and be receptive to the needs of people who approach the Commission
with appeals and complaints.
The
Commissioner took review of implementation of RTI Act in Jammu and Kashmir. It
was noted that only 160 out of 223 offices/public authorities have
implemented/complied with the Section 4(b) of the J&K RTI Act, 2009.
The
Commissioner desired that the list of 63 public authorities, who have not
complied with the Section-4 of the Act, must be brought to the notice of the
General Administration Department (GAD) for appropriate action.
The
Commissioner also reviewed appeals/complaints decided by the Commission during
March and April 2016. It was informed that 76 appeals/complaints have been
decided by the Commission and decisions have been uploaded on the official
website of the Commission for the information of public.
