Free Press Journal: Indore: Wednesday,
May 18, 2016.
With the
Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) integrating technology into
examination system making its functioning more transparent, the Commission has
witnessed a huge decline in RTI applications.
“Very few
persons are filing applications using Right to Information Act with the MPPSC
these days. In past six months, we have received only a handful of RTI
applications,” MPPSC secretary Manohar Dubey said.
He attributed
the drastic decline in RTI applications to the measures taken by the MPPSC in
past one year.
“Since, we
adopted computer-based online examination pattern in 2015, the number of RTI
applications had started declining. And when we started giving photocopies of
response sheets to the candidates, the number shot down drastically,” he told
Free Press.
He said that
the candidates previously had to use RTI application to get Xerox copies of
their response sheets.
“Now as we
are providing scanned copies of the answer sheets to students on a nominal
charge of Rs 50. This facility has made RTI Act irrelevant for the candidates,”
he said.
In past four
months, the MPPSC had given away photocopies of response sheets to nearly 1
lakh candidates after exams.
These
candidates include examines of state civil service exams as well.
Asst prof
exam date shortly
Dubey said
that the MPPSC would announce exam date of assistant professor exam in two to
three days. The MPPSC have received nearly 15000 applications against 2371
assistant professor’s posts lying vacant at different government across the
state. The exams would be held after a
gap of more than 20 years.
