The
government has spent Rs 20.11 crore on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s air travel
during his 32-month tenure.
Fifteen of
his cabinet ministers have spent Rs 2.27 crore while 17 other members have not
provided details of their air travel expenditure. About Rs 33.50 crore has been
spent from the government exchequer till now on air travel alone.
RTI activist
Bhimappa Gadad who obtained this information through the RTI Act, revealed this
at a news conference here on Wednesday. He stated that the CM has spent Rs 9
crore on air travel from May 13, 2013 to March 31, 2014, Rs 5.81 crore in
2014-15 and Rs 4.60 crore till Jan 31, 2016.
Gadad, who is
a member of the Congress party, alleged that although the party is about to
complete three years in power, the government has failed to solve the sand
issue and farmers’ problems, while spending huge amounts on air travel.
He also
revealed that the state government has taken huge loans amounting to Rs 39,161
crore in the past 22 months.
