Kerala State
Police Chief T P Senkumar, in a circular issued on Tuesday, instructed the
police force to ensure that the public received the information they
sought under the Right to Information
Act and called for maintaining transparency in the police department.
The police
chief, however, warned that such information should only be disclosed after
taking into account the factors of law, security and secrecy of the
sought-after subject. The circular said the department could issue FIR and
general diary records under the RTI provided they were of secretive nature.
