The city
survey department, a body that keeps track of status of ownership of properties
in the city , faced embarrassment when the state information commission imposed
a fine on city survey superintendent K V Bhamat after he failed to provide
information to an RTI applicant regarding status of property cards issued in
the Walled City area. Walled City area.
Information
commissioner V S Gadhvi imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Bhamat.
The
application was made in December 2013 by Kalupur resident Pankaj Bhatt seeking
details on the status of govern ment land in Kalupur 1,2 and 3 areas under the
prevalent re venue records.
The
application had sought copies of the property cards in which the government was
the owner and had sought the current status. Besides this, Bhatt asked the
survey office regarding the number of properties that were marked as resi were
marked as residential and commercial and whether there were restrictions on
residential area limits.
