Press Telegraph: Mumbai: Saturday, January 30, 2016.
The Dream Girl of the tinsel town Hema Malini, who has plans to start a dance school, is now accused of land grabbing.
The price of the 2,000 sq m plot in Andheri, which has been allotted to BJP MP Hema Malini by the state government, has been pegged at Rs 70,000. Filed by RTI activist Anil Galgani before the Mumbai suburban collector, the petition also disclosed that she had been given another plot of land in 1997 that she was unable to develop because of coastal regulations, but she has not returned it yet.
In the new allotment, the Hema Malini Dance Academy's cultural complex project is expected to cost around Rs.18.49 crore for which she is yet to submit proof of availability of 25 percent funds and resources to raise the balance 75 percent.
Reportedly, due to the CRZ issues, Hema Malini had sought a plea for another land which has now been allotted to her. The RTI activist stated, "Not only that, this is the second time Hema Malini has been allotted a prime plot in the Mumbai suburbs".
According to documents obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) act by activist Anil Galgali,Hema Malini was allotted the plot worth crores of rupees for just Rs 70,000. However, she has kept this plot of land.
In 2013, a plot of land, also in Andheri, was controversially given at basement-bargain rates to Congress leader Rajeev Shukla for a trust run by his television production company. He added that the government has not given the land as per the Ready Reckoner Rate and that the rates of 1976, this has caused a huge loss to the government.
The plot in question, is said to be originally reserved for a garden and was given to the BJP MP from Mathura for a pittance even as she remains in possession of an earlier plot in the financial capital.
"The BJP has shown some leniency towards Hema Malini because she is a Member of Parliament from that party".
