The secrecy
that initially shrouded the incident in which Corporation files ended up with
two scrap vendors in the city seems to have deepened with the disciplinary
action taken by the civic body against those who were found guilty of it.
According to
information received by the Right to Information activist D.B. Binu, the
Corporation is taking disciplinary action as per service rules against junior
health inspector Madhu and six contingent workers found responsible for the
incident in an inquiry conducted by the then Corporation Secretary V.R. Raju.
But, the Corporation will not reveal what action is being taken claiming that
“since they have not been found guilty completely, making it public would
amount to intrusion into their privacy”.
However, in
his report, Mr. Raju clearly stated that making arrangements for the sale of
old files to scrap vendors in violation of the secretary’s standing order to
only shift them to Yatri Nivas, from where the Corporation’s health wing
operates, amounted to serious dereliction of duty.
