Prime
Minister Narendra Modi pays the bills for his kitchen at 7 Race Course Road,
according to an RTI response from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The PMO
has made public several RTI applications and its response to them. Some of the
information sought by the applicants seemed hilarious and even bizarre.
“It is stated
that the kitchen expenses of the Prime Minister is personal in nature and not
incurred on the government account,” the PMO reply said. The applicant had
sought the copies of bills of spices and vegetables as well as the types of gas
cylinders used. A Gujarati food lover, Modi loved bajra roti and khichdi made
by his cook Badri Meena, it said.
One of the
applicants wanted to know about the offs taken by Modi. “It may be noted that
no leave has been availed of by Modi since taking over office,” the PMO
replied. On the PM’s working hours, it replied “the Prime Minister can be said
to be on duty all the time.”
A bizarre
plea was about the speed of internet connectivity in the PMO. And the reply was
34 Mbps.
Another RTI
response said Modi himself was managing his personal social media accounts,
while the official social media accounts of the PMO were managed by the PMO.
“There is no
particular officer(s) who manage(s) these accounts. Inputs are provided by
officers depending on their field/subject of expertise, which are periodically
updated on PM’s social media accounts,” it said.
