Times: Chandigarh: Saturday, 19 December 2015.
Though the
complainant in the Rs 70 lakh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) graft case, fearing
threat from the accused held in the case, had sought security, an RTI
application has revealed she didn’t file any such complaint.
BS Negi,
deputy superintendent of police-cum-central public information officer, Police
Headquarters, Chandigarh, in an RTI reply to advocate OP Sharma said no such
complaint was filed by complainant Gurneet Kaur.
Sharma had
sought a detailed status regarding action taken on the complaint submitted by
Kaur to UT adviser Vijay Dev regarding threat to her family in view of the
graft case registered against Sanjay Dahuja, owner of Berkeley Automobiles,
Industrial Area, KLG Hotel owner Aman Grover, sub-inspector Surinder Singh and
deputy superintendent of police Ram Kumar Meena.
RTI reply
submitted by DSP Negi read, “As per the record, no such request was filed by
Guneet Kaur.” Pertinent that the CBI on September 14 had strongly opposed the
bail pleas of DSP RC Meena, SI Surinder Bhardwaj, Sanjay Dahuja and Aman
Grover, executive director of KLG Hyundai, Industrial Area, after the CBI
submitted the latter written by Kaur to UT advisor Dev on September 1 fearing
her safety and security.
The bail of
the accused was then rejected on September 17.
Talking to
HT, Kaur said, “I had sent the complaint letter through a registered post to
the adviser’s office, and moreover, I also met UT administrator (governor) in
person.”
DSP RC Meena,
SI Surinder Kumar, Sanjay Dahuja, and Aman Grover were arrested on August 13
for allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 70 lakh,
including Rs 40 lakh cash and Rs 30 lakh in the form of cheques. The
gratification was sought for not arresting parents and brother of complainant
Gurneet Kaur in the case registered against them.
