The Shillong Times:
Kohima: Monday, 07 September 2015.
The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers Organisation
(NVCO) on Sunday said that backdoor appointment would remain the same unless
the alleged posts were advertised and due process of selection was conducted,
as envisaged by the relevant rules and said the only alternative to seek
justice was to approach the High Court, by way of filing a PIL.
The statement was made while drawing attention to
the SCERT’s clarification on ACAUT’s allegation on the backdoor appointment of
25 lecturers or assistant professors,
In a statement, NVCO president Kezhokhoto Savi,
who is also ACAUT Nagaland (Legal Cell) Conveoer, referred to a Supreme Court
ruling in 2014, which held that in the absence of any advertisement or
selection process, the appointment of the person was not protected and could be
validly terminated.
He said this while speaking as resource person at
the Yimchungru Youth Seminar, organised by Western Yimchungru Students’ Union,
in collaboration with Yimchungru Students Union Kohima at DUDA Guest House,
Kohima on August 29.
Speaking on the topic, ?the impact of RTI in
Nagaland, Savi said every individual or group was fighting against backdoor
appointments after obtaining relevant documents through the Right to
Information Act, 2005 (RTI).
Therefore, he said filing of RTI applications has
to continue by the citizens and student unions. Stating that regularisation of
services of the backdoor appointments was improper, he said the state government
remained adamant and the silence on part of the state government encouraged
more backdoor appointments and corruption. (UNI)
