Greater Kashmir: Srinagar: Monday, August 03, 2015.
In one of the instances, the varsity has failed to take any action against the employee who ‘had submitted fake documents and was appointed against one of the good posts.’
Several candidates were appointed in Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on documents which have not been verified despite passage of many years, revealed reply to an RTI application.
The information obtained through RTI Act disclosed that authorities are yet to verify the genuineness of documents of various employees on the basis of which they were selected and appointed against various posts.
In one of the instances, the varsity has failed to take any action against the employee who ‘had submitted fake documents and was appointed against one of the good posts.’
However, in reply to the application under RTI Act, the authorities have tried to downplay the issue in answer to a query. “University had received adverse report in case of only one employee and before taking any action against him, he left the job.” The information also manifests that ‘ineligible candidates were appointed against various posts while some employees were promoted in violation of rules.’
It further says that 13 employees in Class IV cadre were upgraded in their grade pay just after completing three years’ regularized service. They include 9 attendants, three security guards and a caretaker.
“Two employees, Helper (Plumbing) and Helper (Electrician) were promoted to Assistant Plumber and Assistant Electrician when there were no University Service Rules in operation which got vetted in 5th University executive council meeting held on 7 August 2014,” said RTI applicant, Sheikh Asif.
As per RTI reply, out of 157 employees regularized on basis of contractual and adhoc service, only five employees were given monetary and service benefits retrospectively while as others were denied the same.
