A former
Rizvi College student had filed an RTI to seek information from the educational
institution about the status of his answer sheet’s photocopy but ended up
receiving an angry reply instead.
Abdul Alim
Shaikh was a student of Bachelor in Accounting and Finance in Rizvi College. He
received 12 marks in Financial Accounting subject in the final semester. Abdul
applied to receive a photocopy of his answer sheet in July 2014.
Simultaneously, he applied for a revaluation of the same subject as well.
“After my exams got over, I started working in a firm. However, I didn’t want
to waste one year of my education so I had applied for photocopy of the failed
subject and revaluation of the same. When I visited the Mumbai University, they
told me that the photocopy was being sent to Rizvi College already. However,
the college authorities stated they didn’t have it,” Abdul narrated.
After the
revaluation results were out, Abdul secured 10 marks in the same subject. “In
the revaluation, I got two marks lesser. I reappeared for the exam and finally
passed the subject. However, I am still waiting for the photocopy of the
corrected answer sheet,” he added.
Irked by the
slow procedure of the institution, Abdul filed an RTI regarding the status of
the photocopy. “I received the reply on July 30, this year, which was extremely
discouraging. The reply stated that as I had applied for photocopy and
revaluation simultaneously, the institution concluded that I was sure of
failing the subject yet again. My point was the figure the misplaced photocopy
of the subject. They need not tell me their assumptions about my future plans.
I wanted them to revert on the status of the photocopy. The reply was extremely
harsh,” Abdul said.
Presently,
Abdul continues to await the photocopy of his answer sheet.
