Backdoor appointments in Nagaland revealed

An RTI filed by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee Vigilance Cell on two occasions have highlighted hundreds of alleged backdoor appointments between 2103-15 in the Police department.
These were for the posts of NCEs, Constables, ABSIs, UBSIs, LDAs and Computer Assistants, without advertisements and holding recruitment rally for various posts. According to a party statement, the RTI application to Public Information Officer (PIO) DGP’s office said that there had been many appointments in the police department in April and May 2015.
It sought the list of all ABSI, UBSI, LDAs and computer assistants appointed in these two months along with the details of the individuals and date of appointment, advertisement and recruitment rally.
In response, the PIO furnished details wherein it was brought to light that altogether 213 constables, 11 UBSIs, 19 ABSI and 4 NCE were appointed during April and May 2015. However, according to the RTI, 5th NAP, DEF Kohima, FSL, FSL, PCS, INT, PCW were remarked as ‘nil’ and that no LDA (directorate/district) appointments were made in police department, for RTI seeking copy of government order lifting the ban on appointmentwas marked as ‘nil’.
In another RTI filed by NPCC vigilance cell member, it said the police department reportedly appointed 959 constables in excess, after the decision to ban recruitment of constables from January 1, 2015 till June 30, 2015. (UNI)
