Candidates
for the posts of Chief Information Commissioner and State Information
Commissioner have been short-listed by the selection committee, Chief Minister
Laxmikant Parsekar said Wednesday.
Parsekar said
that the selection committee, headed by the chief minister, has short-listed
five names of the post of CIC and 14 names for SIC out of 47 applications.
“The
selection committee, which includes the opposition leader, will meet shortly to
finalise the CIC and the two SICs,” Parsekar said.
The
government has been receiving complaints over the vacancies in the Information
Commission of Goa after the retirement of the CIC in January this year and
since the government failed on two earlier occasions to appoint SICs.
The matter has
also been taken to the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court through a PIL filed
by Goa RTI forum.
