BJP chief
Amit Shah has told his party ministers in the state to declare their assets.
Mantralaya Sources said Shah, while talking to ministers on Sunday during a BJP
conclave in Kolhapur, told them to declare their assets and they agreed to do
it.
No minister
in the Devendra Fadnavis government had disclosed information to the chief
minister about their assets and liabilities. The CM, however, has disclosed his
assets and liabilities to the governor of Maharashtra. Other ministers and
ministers of state have to submit their information to the CM. The ministry consists
of 18 cabinet and 12 ministers of state.
Education
minister Vinod Tawde said that the process of declaring assets had been
started.
Former chief
minister Prithviraj Chavan had also directed ministers to announce their
properties and liabilities to bring transparency in the administration, but
only 24 out of 42 did so. Chavan had to send a reminder to the ministers in
2011. Those who had submitted details were Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal,
Pantangrao Kadam, Shivajirao Moghe, Sunil Tatkare, Varsha Gaikwad, Harshvardhan
Patil and Rajendra Mulak. The information was obtained through an RTI query.
Shah told the
ministers to spare a day every week for party workers, to hear their
grievances.
