The State
Information Commission has dismissed the plea of Pallichal panchayat that
sought rejecting the application of RTI activist Vijitha, who was recently
declared as a ‘’public nuisance’’ by the
panchayat, to peruse the documents in person.
Pallichal
panchayat secretary had filed an application before the commission, demanding
that the petition filled by Vijitha for perusing the documents should not be
entertained.
Rejecting the
application of the panchayat, the full Bench of the State Information
Commission noted that as per the Right to Information Act, everyone had the
right to get information.
RTI activist
Vijitha was recently in the news after the panchayat declared her as a ‘’public nuisance’’. The
panchayat’s resolution, which had come under fire, was later cancelled
by the LSG department.
