MLA's Follower Held for Threatening RTI Activist

Indian Express: Hubballi: Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
Old Hubballi police took a man into custody on Monday for allegedly threatening an RTI activist.
The accused, Manjunath Shirahatti of Anand Nagar, was arrested on Sunday night.
RTI activist Shivakumar Chandrashekhar Gokavi (21) of Ekta Colony tried to commit suicide last week.
He had consumed phenol mixed with kerosene and is now recuperating at KIMS Hospital.
Gokavi had lodged a police complaint against BJP corporator Satish Hangal and his supporters, including Manjunath Shirahatti. Gokavi had alleged that Hangal had threatened him for seeking details about Hangal’s asset through an RTI.
A source said that Hangal is now in Maharashtra.  “No doubt he is out of the state. If he was here we would have arrested him. Tracing his mobile has become a big problem,” police sources said.
Meanwhile, Manjunath’s  parents and neighbours protested in front of the police station, claiming that he was innocent.
