Indore bench
of Madhya Pradesh high court, on Tuesday, issued notices to secretary home
ministry, director general of police (DGP), collector, inspector general (IG)
and seven others for allegedly harassing RTI activist.
On the
petition filed by aggrieved RTI activist Rajendra K Gupta challenging false
cases filed against him by city police, Justice SC Sharma also issued notices
to SP Abid Khan, Rawji Bazaar police station in charge CBS Chadar and Central
Kotwali in charge Manju Yadav.
"In
connivance with land mafias, police was harassing RTI activist, who has exposed
several land grabbing by builders," said advocate Anshuman Shrivastava.
Gupta said, "In collusion with land mafia, police had registered a case
against me in 2005, which was dismissed by high court and court had directed
for suspension of then police station in-charge of Central Kotwali SK
Nashine."
He said, on
his complaint, in one year, several encroachments from government land were
removed and actions were taken against builders. "Senior police officials harassed
me and pressurized me to withdraw my complaints against land mafia,"
alleged Gupta, adding that police were harassing him by filing false
complaints.
