The state
information commission (SIC) has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on assistant state
public information officer KC Sudharshan who works at the office of DGP K S
Balasubramanian.
The order was
passed following a complaint filed by RTI applicant Jomon Puthenpurackal who
was provided incorrect information by the officer, in a case involving retired superintendent
of police K K Joshi.
The order was
passed by a two member bench of the information commission - M N Gunavardhan
and Kuryas Kumbalakuzhi.
The SIC in
its order said if the information officer does not comply with the order within
30 days, the fine should be levied after seizure of his property.
