Herald: Bengaluru: Sunday, 15 March 2015.
In the last
two years, the Karnataka Information Commission (KIC) has imposed a penalty of
Rs 1.73 lakh on Bengaluru South Tahsildar Dr Dayanand, revealed a recent RTI
reply by the KIC.
Kalidas
Reddy, an RTI applicant, had sought information about two months ago about the
total penalty imposed on Dayanand ever since he took over as the Bengaluru
South Tahsildar. After two months, the public information officer of the KIC
gave him the startling details.
Since 2013,
the officer had to cough up Rs 1.73 lakh after he took over as the Bengaluru
South Tahsildar, whereas other Tahsildars of Bengaluru have paid Rs 10.45 lakh
in the last seven years.
What prompted
Reddy to file the RTI application seeking details of the penalty imposed on the
Tahsildar was the denial of information about four villages despite the KIC
directives.
