The curious
case of differing interpretations of a Supreme Court (SC) order pertaining to
probing the affairs to the state wakf board between the state government and an
RTI applicant came to an end. The information commission has asked the
Telangana government to furnish further information, if any, or to confirm
"that no information exists in this regard".
It was
earlier reported in these columns that the differences in the interpretation of
the apex court order of 2008 arose between the two parties with the applicant
Khaja Aijazuddin claiming that the SC had ordered a probe into the functioning
of the board for two decades and the chief minister's office (CMO) maintaining
that that is not the case.
The Telangana
minorities welfare department (MWD), the first appellate authority of the CMO
said, was of the view that the order pertains to a thorough probe of the
functioning of the board specifically with respect to the Dargah Ghalib Shaheed
case.
