A one-day workshop on transparency and efficiency for Government officials was held in the Conference Hall of Cuttack Collectorate on Friday. The workshop emphasised on providing quick and accurate information to the RTI applicants.
Inaugurating the workshop, Additional District Magistrate Laxmidhar Mohanty said, “The public information officer and appellate officials in each government department should focus on speedy and accurate information supply to the seekers or applicants as it is their right to know every information regarding various Government departments of the state administration.”
“People should take advantage of the internet and should apply for information online that will save both time and money for them. The appellate authorities should ensure quick redressal of RTI issues so that the applicant gets information without any further delay,” added Mohanty
Reputed RTI activist Nishikant Mohapatra also attended the workshop and talked on various aspects of the RTI act and its impact on nation building. He said that developmental process will be more efficient and transparent with the help of the act and the governmental departments could be the facilitators of the process.
