The Arunachal
Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed a penalty of Rs. 25,000 to
JDEE Public Information Officer (PIO), Monya Nyori under section 20(1) of the
RTI Act 2005.
The penalty
was imposed for deliberately defying the orders of the Commission to furnish
details to one Toko Sera who in an appeal sought information which, was in
public?s domain, an official release said here today.
Earlier, the
PIO was directed to deposit the said penalty amount in favour of the Registrar,
APIC through Treasury Challan on or before April 9 next.
The
Commission also directed the PIO to appear on the same date along with the
deposited copy of the challan including information as sought by appellant.
It said that
on failure to comply with its order, the Commission would be compelled to
invoke section 20(2) of the Right to Information Act, 2005, the release added.
