Another Niali Man Threatened for RTI Info

Another person of Niali block has alleged that he has been receiving threatening calls after he sought information under RTI about a Kolkata-based real estate company.
In the FIR filed at Niali police station on Sunday, the petitioner, Biswa Ranjan Sahoo of Pasanga village under Alana panchayat, stated that he was working as an assistant in Lavanya project of Tirumala Infrastructure and Development Private Limited at Kanrpur under Olatpur police limits. Sahoo was responsible for liasoning with local sarpanch, Revenue Inspector (RI), Kantapada tehsildar and BDO for a patch of Government land.
Sahoo alleged that the company in collusion with revenue officials evaded stamp duty to the tune of `4.62 lakh through under-valuation of the land cost. He had applied for information from the offices of Kantapada BDO on January 16 and Kantapada Tehsildar on January 17.
Sahoo alleged that Director of the company, Ashis Garg, has been making threatening calls to him since February 5. Sahoo, who left the company in May 2013, claimed that the contractor did not pay his dues.
Cuttack Sadar SDPO Nrusingha Charan Swain said a case has been registered in Niali police station and investigation is on.
It may be mentioned here that Krupasindhu Sahoo, a farmer of Nachhigaon village under Niali police limits, was murdered for seeking information under RTI about funds spent for System of Rice Intensification farming and its beneficiaries. His body was exhumed from Tanla river bed on January 31.
After his death, his wife too had received threat calls.
