The State has
spent Rs. 21.3 crore on renovating 28 official bungalows of Ministers in the
city in the last six years.
According to
information provided by the Public Works Department in response to an RTI query
by activist Bheemappa Gundappa Gadada, an additional Rs. 14.86 crore was spent
over the last 10 years on furnishing the same houses. The highest, Rs. 3.96
crore, was spent on renovating Cauvery Guesthouse on Kumara Krupa Road,
followed by Anugraha on which Rs. 1.43 crore was spent. “We will meet the Chief
Minister and demand a probe,” Mr. Gadada said. He said if the Chief Minister
fails to respond, he will file a PIL in the High Court seeking direction to the
State to stop wasteful expenditure.
