MDMK chief
Vaiko launched yet another attack on the NDA government on Tuesday , condemning
it for declining to make public classified files on Netaji Subhas Chandra
Bose's mysterious disappearance. Vaiko said his party would hold a protest
pressing for unravelling of the truth.
"It is
condemnable that the government is focussing only on maintaining good relations
with other countries, while hurting the sentiments of crores of Indians,"
he said in a statement, referring to the Centre's stand that disclosure of the
files would affect ties with foreign nations.
In
Coimbatore, ahead of a public meeting, the MDMK chief dared the Union
government to ban his party. Reacting to the ultimatum from BJP leaders
Subramanian Swamy and H Raja to mend his ways, Vaiko said he would always
support LTTE.
Vaiko, whose
party was part of NDA in the Lok Sabha elections, has been critical of the Modi
government on various issues, including the alleged imposition of Hindi and
Sanskrit and the PM wishing Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for the
coming presidential elections.
Recalling the
role played by Netaji in the freedom struggle and the formation of the Indian
National Army, Vaiko said several soldiers, including those from Tamil Nadu,
had lost their lives in the fight for independence.
Recently, the
PMO, in a RTI reply, accepted that there were 41 files on Bose, of which two
had been declassified, taking a similar stand as that of the UPA government.
"People seek the truth behind the disappearance of Netaji. The Union
government should reveal the truth," he said.
