Right to Information Act commissioner L Tantia Kumari rapped social welfare
department officials in the district for not responding properly to RTI queries
and directed officials to give information in Telugu to the applicants as per
the section 4 (1) B of the Act.
During a
review meeting with the district social welfare and higher education officials
here on Monday, the RTI commissioner warned the officials that if they did not
furnish the information sought by applicants within 30 days, she would take
action against them.
She also
directed the officials to register applications in Register 1 and 2 without
fail. She warned officials stating that if the concerned officer failed to
furnish the details within the stipulated 30 days, he or she would have to send
the information to applicant along with their own money and that she would
recover the money from the errant officer.
The RTI
commissioner said that all government offices should display the citizen's
charter and those not doing so would face action.
