4 illegal liquor vends in Nayagaon: RTI activist

Times of India: Chandigarh: Wednesday, October 08, 2014.
An RTI activist, Amit Saini, has claimed that four liquor vendors were operating their business without licences in Nayagon.
Saini said he had sought information under the RTI Act about the number of vends in Nayagaon, Karoran, Nada and Kansal village. "The reply filed by officials stated that there were only two licenced vendors in Nayagaon, and one each in the other three villages," Saini said. But when Saini conducted his own investigation, he claimed four liquor vends were found to be running in Nayagaon.
"It is surprising that unlicenced liquor vendors are running their business in the middle of the market. The police are also aware about the fact. The government must take action as it is a very serious problem for residents of Nayagaon," said Saini.
Baljeet Kaur, assistant excise and taxation officer, said, "I have to look into the documents. If any illegal action is found, action will be taken."
