Rs 2 lakh recovered from sarpanch and secretary in Madhya Pradesh

The Mhow Janpad Panchayat has recovered Rs 2 lakh from the sarpanch and secretary of Badgonda village panchayat for alleged misuse of public money. Instead of utilizing the amount in public works, the duo transferred the money to their personal account. The recovery was done on the orders issued by a former SDM.
According to Panchayat sources, Badgonda sarpanch Lakshmibai and secretary Mahendra Chowdhry had diverted Rs 4.3 lakh sanctioned to the panchayat for carrying out various development works in the village on October 20, 2011. On the basis of RTI information, a village panch Pramila Mandiya, had filed a case against Sarpanch and secretary in the revenue court of Mhow SDM KVS Chowdhry. It was found that a sum of Rs 208200 was allegedly misused by them and the court issued orders to recover the amount.
Mhow janpad panchayat CEO Narendra Bhawsar told that the recovery was done according to the rules and regulations of Panchayati Raj Act.
