Directorate
of Field Publicity Srinagar Unit today organized a series of programmes on
Right to Information Act as a tool for enhancing accountability and
transparency.
The
programmes were organized at Mujgund, Shareefabad, Shalteng, Barthana,
Zainakote and Bemina localities.
The main
focus of the programme was to apprise people, particularly youth, about various
provisions of Right to Information Act and acquaint them with the process
involved in seeking the information. The speakers also highlighted that this
act is a real stuff in empowerment of general public and thus strengthening democratic
atmosphere and enhancing transparency and accountability in the functioning of
government and public institutions. The student speakers at these locations
were also awarded prizes.
