Not satisfied with govt fixed rates, poultry farmer files RTI

GreaterKashmir.com: Srinagar: Thursday, April 10, 2014.
Aggrieved by frequent variations in chicken and mutton prices, Abdul Rehman Sodagar, a poultry farmer, has filed an application under RTI Act in CAPD asking the department to reveal its method of fixing the rates.
Earlier, Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD), Bashir Ahmad had told Greater Kashmir that the production of broilers in Kashmir had increased manifold which had resulted in reduction of chicken prices. The department had fixed the rate of chicken per kg at Rs 80.
However, poultry farmers and dealers seem to be aggrieved by the sudden and fast changes in prices. The applicant has also sought information regarding the method the department uses to fix the mutton rates.
The applicant has also sought break up of 3.50 crore broilers, which the demand had claimed to have been produced in Kashmir this season.
