Addressing
his last leg of election rallies in Mon and Tizit, Congress candidate KV Pusa
today assured people of eastern Nagaland that he would work for their interest
so they could come at par with other communities in the state. He stated
“indignation” of the people of Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO)
was due to “step-motherly” treatment by the state government despite huge
amount being pumped in the four districts - Longleng, Mon, Kiphire and
Tuensang. “I will work for your welfare therefore elect me to represent you,”
he pleaded.
Asserting
that successive Congress had performed well for the people of eastern Nagaland,
but for the last 11 years of NPF led DAN government, people have been left to
their own fate and development has come to a standstill, Pusa urged the people
not to succumb to “false promises” of NPF.
Pusa further
stated that the gap between haves and have-nots in the state has been
increasing at an alarming rate because of corruption. But, he assured equal
distribution of funds and development if people send him to Delhi, while
expressing confidence that Congress led UPA would come to power again at the
centre.
He also
highlighted how public funds were pocketed by NPF MPs during the last 10 years.
Pusa cited that document obtained through RTI had revealed total misuse of
Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme, but so far, neither the two
MPs - CM Chang (Lok Sabha) and Khekiho Zhimomi (Rajya Sabha) nor the state
government have reacted to the document.
Pusa further
underscored the “dismal” condition of schools, health centres, irregular power
and water supplies, bad road condition, misuse of mid-day meal, government
passing a resolution not to grant 33% reservation to women in the assembly,
non-regularization of thousands of work-charged government employees, forced
retirement to thousands of employees etc. He accused DAN government of failing
in all fronts.
He blamed the
state government for the backwardness of the four eastern districts despite
centre being "generous" to sanction funds for the development and
welfare of the people. Stating that the Congress is a pro-people party which
did not neglect the four districts during its rule, Pusa asked the people not
to vote for NPF candidate Neiphiu Rio “who is hand in glove with a communal
party like BJP which is all out to wipe out minorities like Christians from the
country.” “Voting for Rio is voting for a communal party,” Pusa stated.
